Leveraging data mining approaches, this study delved into the historical rules for selecting acupoints in acupuncture-moxibustion for scrofula treatment. The Chinese Medical Code was thoroughly reviewed to locate relevant acupuncture and moxibustion articles on scrofula, allowing for the extraction of original texts, acupoint designations, their distinguishing features, and their associated meridians. Using Microsoft Excel 2019, an acupoint prescription database was developed and subsequently investigated for acupoint frequency, their meridian tropism, and unique attributes. Employing SPSS210 for cluster analysis of acupuncture prescriptions, SPSS Modeler 180 was subsequently applied to analyze the association rules specifically for the neck and chest-armpit acupoints. As a consequence, the collection yielded 314 acupuncture prescriptions, subdivided into 236 single-acupoint prescriptions and 78 prescriptions involving multiple points (53 targeting the neck and 25 the chest and armpit). 54 acupoints participated with a total frequency count of 530. Among the commonly used acupoints, Tianjing (TE 10), Zulinqi (GB 41), and Taichong (LR 3) were prominent; the hand shaoyang, foot shaoyang, hand yangming, and foot yangming meridians were the most frequent meridians used; and he-sea points and shu-stream points were the most commonly utilized special acupoints. Cluster analysis produced six clusters, in addition to the association rule analysis, which identified Quchi (LI 11), Jianyu (LI 15), Tianjing (TE 10), and Jianjing (GB 21) as key neck prescriptions. The association rule analysis also determined Daling (PC 7), Yanglingquan (GB 34), Danzhong (CV 17), Jianjing (GB 21), Waiguan (TE 5), Zhigou (TE 6), Yuanye (GB 22), and Zhangmen (LR 13) to be vital chest-armpit prescriptions. The databases of PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, SinoMed, CNKI, and Wanfang were consulted to find systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses on the effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion for CA. The database retrieval time was calculated for the period starting with the database's commencement and ending on May 5th, 2022. To assess the quality of the report, PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) was employed; AMSTAR 2 (Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2) was then used to evaluate the methodological quality; a bubble map was constructed to represent the evidence; finally, the GRADE approach was applied to determine the quality of the evidence.
A total of nine systematic reviews were selected for inclusion. The PRISMA scores demonstrated a distribution from 13 up to and including 26.
